Life and Christian Life Coaching
Bev DeVille, Christian Life Coach
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me securely on the heights. Psalm 18:33
Are you stuck in a rut and can’t seem to find your way out? Have you lost your desire to dream and grow? Do you have a problem that is nagging at you and you just can’t seem to get it under control? Are you powerless to move forward in your life? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you are not alone. There are many people who feel the same way you do. Their professional and/or personal successes, or lack thereof, have left them empty and wondering, “Is that all there is to life?” It doesn’t have to be. Because you are “wonderfully made,” (Psalm 139:14) you have a specific purpose to fulfill that will lead you out of your rut and help you to grow and rediscover your dreams. When you get ready for change and to find out what that purpose is, I will be there to help you develop a plan of action that will take you where you want to go.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is coaching?
Coaching is the partnership between a qualified professional coach and an individual that supports the achievement of the individual’s goals. Coaching provides an avenue whereby the individual may focus on the skills and actions needed to successfully produce results that are relevant to the individual. A life coach partners with the individual to develop and capitalize on those skills and strengths that may not have been fully tapped into. Life coaches are trained listeners who are objective and non-judgmental and who help individuals to identify their goals, create action plans to achieve those goals, improve skills and move forward with their lives.
What are the benefits of coaching?
Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to see fresh perspectives on personal challenges or opportunities. A plan of action to help achieve the desired results will be collaboration between the coach and the client, and assistance to maintain that plan will be provided. Decision making skills and thinking skills, along with interpersonal effectiveness, will be enhanced. An increase in confidence, personal satisfaction, productivity and the achievement of personal goals may also be expected. Positive healthy attitudes will be promoted that will encourage positive, healthy lifestyle changes.
What are some typical reasons someone might work with a coach?
- They have some improvement they want to make but probably won’t work on it on their own
- There is a challenge or opportunity that is urgent, compelling or exciting
- There is a gap in knowledge, skills, confidence, or resources
- There is a desire to accelerate results
- There is a lack of clarity, and there are choices to be made
- There are imbalances that are creating unwanted consequences
- Identification of core strengths and how to best use them
- The individual desires to become more organized and self-managing in order to create a simpler less complicated life
How is Christian coaching different from other coaching?
Most all coaching is very similar. All coaches should want to partner with their clients to help them maximize their potential and achieve their goals. In Christian coaching, I believe God brings the client and the coach together by Divine appointment. Nothing happens by chance. I also believe that He is present during the coaching sessions. God has a plan for everyone’s life, and He has created each person with the gifts and talents needed to live life to the fullest. I use Scripture references during my coaching sessions, and I strongly encourage my clients to pray for God’s guidance and assistance. Although I coach from a Christian perspective, I do not limit myself to only Christian clientele. It is my desire to coach anyone who seeks to be coached.
The mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Are you coachable?
- I am ready to fully commit to changing my life.
- I desire to improve my overall life and wellbeing.
- I am willing to invest in my future with time and money.
- I probably could improve without assistance, but I probably won’t.
- I am open to honest feedback and candid assessments.
- I will participate in a plan of action co-designed specifically for me by my coach and me.
- I am ready to take the action necessary to get what I want.
If these statements resonate with you, you are probably coachable. If you truly desire to be coached, you must be a willing participant in the process. Change just doesn’t come on its own. You have to be willing to work for it. Once the coaching process is complete, you will be able to see where you started, where you ended up, and you will be able to reap the rewards of your efforts.
